Process mapping and optimisation within Finance processes supporting IT system change

Senior Business Analyst / Project Manager delivering process mapping and optimisation within Finance Area (Accounts Payable and GL) in support of anticipated IT systems changes;

• Mapped 8 Key ‘As Is’ processes, depicting activities, roles, hand-offs, IT systems, and produced key operational metrics (cycle times, costs and FTE requirements)
• Built a clear picture of the process ‘choke points’, and established reasons
• Developed a set of high level requirements for future processes which minimised the issues, and provided a more optimum way of doing business (compliance, cycle times, minimum delivery cost)
• Undertook detailed ‘To Be’ process definition and detailed mapping of key processes, depicting major changes under the new operating model, including metrics comparison to identify benefits
• Published the maps as an html reference model with multi-level drill down and search functionality for convenient electronic access to users.

Achievements:
o Defined changes to Business Policy, Processes, Skills / Workforce Management, and IT Systems to deliver a significant annualised efficiency gain, and a simultaneously significant reduction in cycle times.
o By changing the current AP policy and increasing the Creditors book, an large increased cash-flow would generate substantial additional revenue per annum.
