Construction Process Analysis & Documentation

Cross River Rail (CRR) is a major SE QLD infrastructure project, addressing the increasing demand on QLD Rail’s network.

A team of 2 Synoptic consultants undertook process mapping and analysis of 38 key CRR enabling processes (Planning, Assurance and Delivery, Commercial and Governance, and Business Integration processes). The aim was to;
• Formally document the actual process that are currently in place (depicting the sequence, the roles and responsibilities, the key scenarios, the key documentation, and the supporting IT systems), or the intended process being envisaged.
• Identify practical, operational improvements, to support implementation of beneficial change.
• Implementation by CRR Process Assurance Team is currently underway.
• Additional process mapping and analysis is also currently underway.

Achievements;
• Over 180 detailed business processes were identified in the Process Inventory. 54 were selected for process mapping. Many of these were consolidated to a consistent level of definition, and the resultant set of 38 process maps have been produced. These 38 process maps have supported the detailed analysis and redesign of a subset of 28 processes.
• Prioritisation for implementation was based on Score-based ranking, based on level of Overall Business Impact (Operational Impact + Risk Impact + Stakeholder Impact), AND degree of Complexity involved, AND the Achievability of implementing the change.
• An implementation change roadmap was developed, consisting of a 7 step Operational Deployment approach developed by Process Compliance & Assurance Team, and post deployment, process assurance and compliance reviews to support process improvement activities.
